UPDATE (09/09/08):
The Inbox page has been renamed to Messages and now also shows your sent messages. Sent messages appear orange for quicker recognition. You cannot see whether your sent messages have been read.

UPDATE (08/16/08):
Profile pictures are here! You may now upload a picture to represent you in the monkey war! However, it would appear as though bitmaps (.BMP files) are not recognized by the open source image processing modules I am currently using. Sorry about that. Also, the number of rows per page has been reduced to 25 for all listing-type pages.

Also also, for the time being, if someone uploads an offensive picture, contact me (svidgen) and let me know.

UPDATE (08/15/08):
Account inactivation for idle monkeys appeared to have failed. No worries--the script was just set to use 15 instead of the value in the settings file. It will theoretically inactivate the majority of monkeys tonight (3:00AM GMT, I think).

I hope the rest of the daily script is correct ...

UPDATE (08/11/08):
Account inactivation after 14 days of idleness has been instituted. The number of days is negotiable--contact svidgen to "negotiate." While an account is inactive it may not receive daily allowance resources. However, pending challenges will remain for completion--expiration in the case of challenges to the inactive account. Accounts may be reactivated with the forgot password form.

From the looks of things, the vast majority of current monkeys will be vanishing from the list very soon ...

UPDATE (08/09/08):
Simple friends list functionality has been added. You may add or remove friends from the link in their Info page under Account Information just above the credo. You may see your friends list via the Friend Monkeys link under My Account. But remember, just because someone is on your list doesn't mean you're on theirs. Also, recruits now award resources upon activation, and you should now receive a message informing you of recruit activation and any resources awarded.

UPDATE (08/09/08):
A simple listing of your challenges to other monkeys now displays in your command center. Some additional navigation buttons have been added to the challenge pages for convenience. Visited and unvisited links are now the same color for the sake of "beauty" and to prevent any incorrect assumptions made about differences in link colors. Email notification preferences have been removed, since I have decided not to send out any notification emails. And lastly (unless I am forgetting something) you can now see which monkeys are logged in and active within the last five minutes. A summary of logged in monkeys may be found near the bottom of every page while you are logged in.

UPDATE (08/06/08):
Some monkey cave scratchings (of monkeys) have been added to the site. Additional cave scratchings have also been found and are pending digitization to illustrate certain portions of the Monkey War.

The introduction (above) has been changed to better represent the monkeys and their war.

UPDATE (07/30/08):
Tax rates, assistance rates, and the concept of allegiance is GONE. Recruits now award bananas and coconuts. The old [not] battling system has been replaced with a fancy attribute affected rock-paper-scissors based challenging system. Two mini-games have been added to increase your attributes and introduce some targetted button-mashing. And to end the mindless button-mashing, harvesting is GONE. Bananas and coconuts are now awarded on a daily basis.

Oh ... and your accounts have been reset.

It's a new game and we're in age ALPHA-NEARLY-BETA, so start recruiting!

UPDATE (05/21/08):
Monkey messaging has just been installed and will be undergoing a few more updates in the next week. Hopefully all the necessary features can be included and any bugs can be worked out before the end of the week. If you encounter any bugs (no feature requests yet) please message svidgen.
